How to Love Yourself as a Highly Sensitive Person
Recently, my love for myself was put to the test.
I was accused of being insensitive, dismissing someone's feelings for years and told I'm full of drama.
Most people who know me well laughed at those statements. Even I did.
But for a hot second, I started to judge myself.
Am I really those things? Am I a terrible person?
My self love and self image was being tested.
But then I thought... why should I let someone else put these negative labels on me? Funny how easy it is to accept other's opinions about you even when you sense they are just saying them out of anger and sadness.
I refuse to accept other people's opinions of me that I know are untrue. It did force me to do some introspection and examine where I can be more sensitive, loving and peaceful. It was a good reminder to examine my own behavior and to know when certain labels are untrue to release them.
Self-love isn't something you learn in a day. It is a continuous process. You can learn to love yourself even when you don't feel loveable.
Honestly, my work to guide other highly sensitive people has greatly boosted my self-love practice. I teach self-love in my course and give you some tools to start your own self-love practice.
